Guides

What every collector should know.

Three short reads on how Caskbid handles the things that matter most once the gavel falls — getting the bottle to you, parting with one from your own collection, and trusting what you bid on.

Delivery

Insured delivery across Europe

Every winning bid is shipped from our climate-controlled vault in Antwerp to your door, fully insured for its hammer price. Bottles travel in impact-rated cellular packaging, inside discreet outer cartons, with signature-required carriers.

Standard transit is five to ten business days within the EU and UK; expedited next-day service is available for high-value lots. Customs paperwork is handled on your behalf for cross-border deliveries, and a tracking link with photographic proof of dispatch lands in your inbox the moment your parcel leaves the cellar.

If anything arrives less than perfect — a chipped tube, a damaged seal — we replace or refund without argument.

Selling

Consigning a bottle with Caskbid

We consign bottles from private collectors, estates and trade partners across Europe. The process begins with a free valuation: send us photographs and any provenance documents, and our cellar team will return a market estimate within two working days.

Accepted lots are professionally photographed, condition-graded and placed in the next scheduled auction. Our seller's commission is a flat 12% of the hammer price — no listing fees, and no charge if a lot fails to meet its reserve.

Settlement is paid within fourteen days of auction close, by bank transfer in EUR, GBP or USD. Discretion is standard; named provenance is opt-in.

Buying

Buying with confidence

Every lot on Caskbid passes a four-point inspection before going live: bottle authenticity, fill level, label and closure condition, and provenance documentation. Lots are graded on a public A-to-D scale, and any deviation from “as new” is disclosed in writing.

Bidding happens in transparent $5 increments, with an optional max-bid proxy so you never overpay in the heat of a close. Payment is held in escrow until the bottle reaches your door — your funds are released to the seller only after you confirm receipt.

Should authenticity ever be challenged after sale, we underwrite a full refund for thirty days.

About whisky

Why collectors care about the bottle, not just the dram.

A great whisky is two things: a finished liquid, and a moment in time. When the distillery is closed, the casks are spent, or the release was a one-off — what's in the bottle is the only remaining record. That's why provenance, condition, and storage matter as much as the liquid itself.

Each lot on Caskbid passes through a six-point inspection: fill level, label condition, seal integrity, original packaging, glass colour and any signs of tampering. We document everything and we never relist a bottle we wouldn't pour for a guest.

  • Speyside

Honeyed, fruit-forward, often sherry-matured. The most concentrated whisky region in the world.

  • Islay

Coastal, peated, medicinal. Defined by maritime smoke and a fierce regional identity.

  • Highlands

The widest stylistic range in Scotland — from delicate to deeply structured.

  • World whisky

Japanese, Irish, American single malts increasingly hold their own in the secondary market.
